Celebrate Leap Day (2/29)

..with cheesy bread! What? It's been like a week, dude. AND someone is going out of town tomorrow leaving me with two kids to pick up from daycare, feed, bathe, get to bed, get up and ready for daycare. ALL. BY. MY. SELF. Just sayin'. I know other people do this all of the time but what can I say? I'm spoiled. So I might have said some cheesy bread would be nice. I did think ahead and figured it would be better for me to eat it now and not on the weekend because it would affect my weigh in with the amount of sodium I am sure is in it. See, I'm smart =)

Breakfast:
Oats w/ pecans, chia seeds, cinnamon and splenda - 6 pts+ new mix and it was pretty good. I've noticed chia seeds are becoming more popular and figured I might as well make use of the huge stash my Mom provided me with. Thanks Mom!

Snacks:
Cheez-its Four cheese - 4 pts+ salty goodness
Banana - 0 pts+

Lunch:
Leftover pasta, cabbage and sauce - 4 pts+ mmmmm don't knock it 'til you've tried it!

Did week 4 day 2 today and it was a little rougher. I think it was the lack of good music. We ended up with My Strange Addiction and it was just crazy. Helped pass the time though.

After run snacks:
Cottage cheese w/ frozen grapes - 2 pts+
Sliced apples - 0 pts+

Dinner:
Egg sandwich w/ bacon and provolone - 7 pts+
Dirty rice (1/4 cup) - 2 pts+
Grapes - 0 pts+

Well, I already gave away what's in the box.. but if you want to guess how much I ate go ahead ;)

Let's just say I'll have a little something-something to munch on tomorrow night while watching Grey's. Definitely an evening I can look forward to. You know, after the kiddies are in bed.

Back to the Grind (2/27)

Breakfast:
Steel cut oats - 3 pts+
Blueberries - 0 pts+
Chocolate chips - 2 pts+

I had to head over to Target to get my monthly rx filled. While there I picked up some bananas because I have to have my daily fruit staple =)

Banana - 0 pts+

Lunch:
The other half of my sandwich from yesterday's dinner - 7 pts+

The club is regularly 8 pts+ so minus the ham I figure it's 7 pts+. I still had a mild headache/migraine this morning so I made sure to take some Excedrin Migraine and it was taken care of within 30 mins. Awesome stuff.

Headed over to the gym and did my first day of week 4. The only music was Eminem and not the best running music, at least for me. We ended up watching My First Place and almost fell out when the couple decided on a house slightly bigger than my own for around $330,000.. My house was less than $150,000. I mean daaaang. It's crazy what your money can get in the different states.

After workout snack:
Sandwich thin - 3 pts+
Hummus - 1 pts+
Carrots - 0 pts+

Whipped up some dirty rice and corn muffins for S and the kids before heading to my ww meeting. I did sneak a couple of no bake cookies as a quick snack (3 pts+). I'm sparing you a picture of the chocolatey, peanut buttery deliciousness =) I helping YOU be strong! Swear.

I knew I wanted a muffin when I got home for dinner but with the cookies I didn't have enough points. I was about to just do without when I remembered I didn't have to have a WHOLE serving of rice. I could add some 0 pts+ veggies and bulk a half serving. This girl is a GENIUS.

Dinner:
Dirty rice (1/2 cup) - 3 pts+
Spaghetti squash - 0 pts+
Corn muffin - 4 pts+

Needed another little snack:
Grapes - 0 pts+

Went to two stores after my meeting and stocked up on apples, grapes, carrots, eggplant and onions. I'm ready for this week! (Forgot the hummus that my husband is apparently devouring when my back is turned.. At least he's enjoying good healthy food. I guess.)

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! (2/26)

Got to sleep in today.. 7:50am.. Thanks Nat.

Breakfast:
Eggs w/ bacon - 3 pts+
Blueberry pancakes w/ syrup - 5 pts+

Made PB&J's for everyone (minus S) - 9 pts+ used the wrong bread!
Special K crisps (half serving) - 2 pts+
No bake cookie - 1 pts+

Top Left - D's half (he already had one half)
Top Right - Mine
Bottom - N's sandwich cut up into her size bites =)

Life with children and the many cuttings of sandwiches.

Went to a birthday party and had 1/2 of N's ice cream for 2 pts+.
Google images.

Dinner was something quick and cheap.

Subway Club (minus ham) - 8 pts+ I think it would be less since I took off the ham and it's on wheat but have a major headache and can't think hard enough to figure out the right points.
Squash - 0 pts+

Wedding Win (title before I found out I forgot the damn shrimp) (2/25)

Started the day off with a yummy cup o' coffee. Kids seem to just get up at 7am now. Geez, with mine and S's dna you would think they would sleep until 10am at least!

Once I was actually coherent I baked up some honey biscuits and made some scrambled eggs with bacon crumbles. Mmmmm bacon!

Honey biscuit - 5 pts+
Eggs w/ bacon crumbles - 3 pts+

For lunch I scrounged up some leftovers and cooked up some quick cabbage.

Sloppy joe's - 6 pts+
Cabbage - 0 pts+

Had a hankering for some chocolate and peanut butter and decided to whip up some no bake cookies. This turned into a semi-mindless nosh-fest. I only meant to eat a couple!

No bake cookies (5) - 7 pts+

S and I went to a beautiful wedding last night and had the best wedding food to date. Seriously, we didn't get a knife and I was a little concerned since we had roast beef, pork and chicken on our plates. Turns out we didn't even need one since the meat was so tender! I even picked up some English snap peas (I think that's what they were) which I don't normally like but figured I needed some kind of veggie on my plate. They were awesome! Cooked enough to not be crunchy but not so much they were wimpy. Same went for the asparagus (I love asparagus but prefer it to be over cooked rather than under) it was not floppy (I'm such a sophisticated foodie) or mushy and I was still able to cut it with my fork.

The roast beef was probably my favorite. Perfectly cooked and flavored nicely. Next, I think was the little glass of shrimp and grits. It was unexpected and I wasn't sure why they added this to the menu but it turned out so good. The grits were really creamy and sauce was a little spicy and all together with the shrimp it was perfect. Mmmm.. I really wanted to get up for another plate but S kept me at the table. Good thing too since I blew right through by weekly points.

Here's a rough breakdown of how the dinner added up.

Dinner roll - 3 pts+
Chicken - 1 pts+
Mexican layer dip - 1 pts+
Another dip - 2 pts+
And another dip - 2 pts+
Roast beef - 5 pts+
Crackers - 1 pts+
Tostitos - 1 pts+
Pork - 4 pts+
Veggies - 0 pts+

Wow.. just noticed I didn't add the shrimp and grits to my tracker. Damnit! Well, I am officially in the red. Whoops.

Shrimp and grits - 7 pts+

Well, you can't go to a wedding without having some cake.. at least that's how I feel now. I actually made the no bake cookies since I wasn't planning on having any cake. Most wedding cakes I've had (besides my own) have been dry and coated with nasty icing. Don't care for icing anyway. Turns out this cake was DELICIOUS! One of the girls we were sitting with offered to go bring some plates back. I said sure and that S and I would share. Dude, I almost lied to S to get the last bite. It was sooooooo good! It was moist and very flavorful. I think it was almond something. Mmmm I really, really, really wanted another piece. All to myself, if you don't mind. Yeah, I didn't get it.. because of S. Again. He's totally food blocking me! (I guess it worked out for the best since I WENT OVER ON MY POINTS! Gah!)

Bowling Day Friday (2/24)

It was a good day since it was a half day at work =)
Didn't get to run but maybe a little break right before week 4 is a good idea.

Breakfast:
Chobani w/ granola - 5 pts+

Tried the Chobani Apple Cinnamon and it wasn't bad. Didn't think I would really like this flavor but wanted to give it a try and I was pleasantly surprised.

Grabbed a snack right before leaving for my company's bowling tournament.

Banana - 0 pts+

The paper clip is there to show the hugeness of this banana! Can you believe it's still ZERO points plus? Love me some weight watchers!

My company had their annual bowling tournament and lunch was also provided. Pizza and salad buffet.. Hard to imagine I kept on track with my recent addiction to carbs, huh?

Well, guess what.. I was awesome!

One slice of cheese pizza - 5 pts+
Salad w/ cheese, imitation bacon, jalapenos, egg, mushrooms (no dressing) - 2 pts+

Notes: I didn't used to like raw mushrooms but since my spinach salad with April at Mellow Mushroom I don't seem to mind them as much and it made my salad more filling. Also, I was the only person in line at the buffet that used their plate instead of the tiny bowl they provided. I guess I had salad as my main course and pizza as my side =)

Sadly, I did have one negative about my lunch.

I tried to inhale a jalapeno.

Don't do this. It burns.

Like a mother.

Guess who got to join me for bowling? April and my hubby =) We rarely ever get to hang out together since someone has to stay home with the kids when I'm out running around and having fun.

Bowling is not my best sport but I was winning at one point..

Well, for at least a few minutes!

After the tournament (we didn't win, duh) S and I headed towards my favorite smoothie place for a treat. We ended up sharing a Spicy Chicken sandwich from Wendy's and I got a green tea smoothie with bubbles. Mmmmm.. it was the perfect balance of spicy and creamy goodness.

Spicy chicken (half) - 6 pts+
Bubble tea - 5 pts+

Tonight was the first night that I didn't have any carb cravings! There is a light at the end of the PMS tunnel =)

I still had 3 points for the day and ended up with some spaghetti squash and two crackers with hummus. Simple dinners are sometimes the best.

Hanging on by a Thread (2/23)

Still struggling today. All kinds of food has been going through my mind.

Cheesy bread (of course)
Taco salad from Taco Bell
Oreos dunked in milk
Chicken sandwiches from BK
Italian wedding cake from Publix
Oreo McFlurry

and SO MUCH MORE.

Let's stick with what I actually ate shall we.

Breakfast:
Savory oats w/ cottage cheese and bacon - 5 pts+ (very good by the way.)

Snack:
Banana - 0 pts+

Lunch:
PB&J - 8 pts+
WW crisps - 2 pts+

Snacks:
Carrots and hummus - 1 pts+
Trader Joe espresso pillows - 1 pts+

After work, S and I met up at Target and then after headed to BK for a "treat" =)

Dinner (part 1)
Italian chicken sandwich - 14 pts+
Fries (shared a small) - 5 pts+

It was actually pretty good and I was satisfied.. for the time being.

Once we got home it was a whole 'nother story.
I felt like an addict. I wanted this, I wanted that. Would you please go here or there? Get this or this. It was pitiful. I tried to call my "sponsor" but she was mia =(

Do you know what ended up helping me? Checking my email randomly and seeing a comment from Annie. She told me I was doing a good job for not giving in last night.

Well damn, I can't give in now. Gah!

So instead of going into the red on my points with who knows what I would have eaten. I baked the spaghetti squash and had it two ways. So fancy, huh?

Dinner (part 2)
Spaghetti squash w/ sesame oil and soy sauce - 1 pts+
Spaghetti squash w/ bacon, cottage cheese, seasoning and a touch of balsamic vinegar - 1 pts+

The second bowl was the best. More flavor and the textures went well together.

Tonight was high on the points scale but it was still a win! I think 2 pts+ versus ~30 pts+ is definitely the lesser of the two evils.
