Step Three: Debt up to my Eyeballs Application Complete

Just finished filling out my application for financial aid.

Starting to get a little scary with the prospect of not working, caring for two kids and gaining a chunk of debt. Eck!

I keep telling myself it will be worth it in the long run and I told S we could celebrate when I graduate by going to Disney World since D and LO will be about the "good" age to handle it.

Sounds like a good celebratory idea, right?

Step One of Many Completed: Transcript Requested

An opportunity has presented itself recently and I've pretty much made up my mind to take advantage of this open door.

I graduated from high school in 2000, college in 2005, engaged in 2006, married in 2007, pregnant in 2008, momma in 2009, momma to two under two eta November 2010.

And now..

Returning to college in the Spring of 2010 for my second degree.

Call me crazy but I'm excited! My first degree was in Communication and now I'm going to be pursuing an Engineering degree. Complete opposites of the spectrum, right?? I was looking over my transcript for my BA and it is littered with Literature classes, Art History, Language, etc. The recommended schedule for Engineering includes Calculus, Chemistry, Physics, Advanced Logic Design, Design & Analysis of Algorithms!

Some of the classes sound so foreign to me but I know the end result will be well worth it! I've come to the realization that I'm just not creative enough to be a true graphic artist. I much prefer the technical aspects of my job anyway. I am confident that an Engineering degree is the answer in my pursuit of actually enjoying my job. I want to do something I can see myself doing in 30 years and still love it.

No time like the present, right? I figure I might as well take the steps to making this a reality since my current job is such a dead end. Of course I'm definitely jumping right in. Did I mention when classes start for the Spring semester? No? How about exactly 6 weeks from when this little bugger growing in my uterus is expected to arrive!

No matter. Bring on the homework, the textbooks from the 90's, the obnoxious girls, the know-it-all boys! Hey you! Engineering! I'm coming for you and I'll be kicking ass and taking names!
